Bushfire devastated communities are scrambling to find assistance to essentials – whether that be items like generators, or services like care. With the rest of Australia (and the world) opening their hearts and wallets, a number of charities are set to benefit and help these communities immediately.

The Australian charity regulator – the ACNC is recommending donors search the charity register and try and identify appropriate charities that can help in the first instance. This is to help avoid people starting new ones which might duplicate services and reduce the impact of any donation.

But Donors will need to know the exact name or ABN of a charity when doing this search. This may leave out vital community groups that can help immediately. The Impact Suite recommends using our free tool which allows donors to do a more tailored search. This is available using our Advanced Charity search located here, where donors can search by keywords which can be specific as specific as ‘Koala’, as well as other options such as State, Postcode, size, and sector.

With the ACNC publishing a list of postcodes in affected communities, people wanting to help and give more targeted donations can easily identify organisations that can help by using the added postcode search.

In addition to finding charities in a bushfire affected location, donors can quickly view other important information such as who is involved, and governance related information. For further information, please see  https://www.theimpactsuite.com/impact/charity/
