Following 'shocking and unacceptable' issues recently revealed in the Press, the UK Charity Commission has launched a statutory inquiry into Oxfam. It is worried that Oxfam may not have 'fully and frankly' disclosed all details about sexual allegations back in 2011 which are alleged to have occured in Haiti. The allegations center around the use of prostitutes by workers.

The Commission's Deputy CEO David Holdsworth has said: "Charities and dedicated, hard-working aid workers undertake vital, lifesaving work in some of the most difficult circumstances across the world."

Four member of Oxfam staff have been dismissed including the country director. Oxfam apparently knew about the conduct of two of the men when they worked in Chad before they were given senior roles in Haiti.

Oxfam received £31.7m in Government funding in 2016/17.
