Are you a community group wanting $20,000 to support environmental priorities of your local community in your neighbourhood? Read on…

The Communities Environment Program is designed to directly support local community groups to undertake practical local environmental projects. It will fund community-led projects in Brisbane of between $2,500 and $20,000 that deliver practical environmental benefits.

Locals know best how to protect our local environment, and this program will support and encourage community-led projects such as:

  • revegetating riverbanks;
  • protecting native animals, including our threatened species;
  • removing weeds from parks and reserves;
  • removing litter from our riverways; and
  • and greening local parks and urban areas.

It aims to not only protect and strengthen our environment but also to build and strengthen our communities.

This program builds on the Coalition’s strong record of investing in grassroots environmental action through initiatives such as the $1 billion National Landcare Program and 20 Million Trees.

A broad range of organisations are eligible for funding, including community clubs (such as Lions clubs, Rotary clubs, sports clubs), not-for-profit organisations such as Indigenous organisations, Landcare groups (including bushcare and ‘friends of’ groups), school P&Cs and P&Fs and other community and conservation groups.

If your community organisation has a suitable project you think deserves to be considered for funding, please complete the Expression of Interest form and return it by email to trevor.evans.mp@aph.gov.au by 27 September. If you have already submitted an Expression of Interest form to me, you do not need to do so again.
